Job Details

Fixed term position until 31 August 2020

Main Purpose of the Post

This post is the Research Hub Coordinator for the Welsh Peatlands Sustainable Management Scheme project. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a consortium of partners, including academics, government agencies, local authorities and NGO’s working on the sustainable management of Welsh peatland ecosystems.

The project is a collaborative effort between land managers and scientists to: deliver multiple environmental benefits through capital works projects covering the current ‘difficult to do’ sectors of peatland restoration; to develop standardised monitoring strategies and best practice principles for peatland restoration throughout Wales; and to support longer-term sustainable management through payment for ecosystem services (PES).

The project will enable more coordinated and comprehensive approaches to monitoring and research activities on Welsh peatlands, as well as facilitating integrated external funding bids for peatland restoration and research.
