About the team/job
The EMBL at Heidelberg, Germany is searching for a new head of its Flow Cytometry Core Facility. The Facility is run by in total three staff to provides access, training and support to top of the line technology and assays within the field of Flow Cytometry and single-cell analysis. The facility is part of the Core Facility Unit, a vibrant and very interactive technology specialist environment fostering cross-facility projects and method development. The facility has a stable user community of about 100 internal and external users reflecting diverse scientific activities at EMBL which spans from developmental biology, cell biology, genome biology into collaborations with partners from the surrounding scientific landscape.
As head of the Flow Cytometry Core Facility, you will manage two experienced team members to support, and further develop the broad activities of the facility. You will interact with other Core Facilities teams, EMBL scientists and industrial partners to plan, acquire and run state of the art equipment and develop user tangled application workflows. You will also maintain and develop in-house and international training courses in flow cytometry and single cell analyses. An active interaction with the international flow cytometry community is also expected.
As our ideal candidate, you should have a proven track record of handling, applying, training and providing service in modern flow cytometry and cell sorting. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability of working in a team and an enthusiastic service attitude are essential.
You might also have
Experience in supporting industrial partners as a support specialist and experimental advisor. Hands on experience in servicing/maintaining modern Flow Cytometry and cell sorting equipment from e.g. BD and Cytek may be an advantage. Additional experience in running and maintaining legacy Beckman Coulter MoFlo-XDP cell sorters and Coherent Sabr/Innova gas lasers is welcome. It would be an advantage to have experience in single cell analyses e.g. with WTA and targeted 10X Genomics and BD Rhapsody assays and instrumentation in parallel with CiteSeq and AbSeq technology.
