Location: Crops, Environment and Land Use Research Centre, Teagasc, Oak Park, Carlow, R93 XE12
The technologist will be responsible for the development and application of genotyping by sequencing within the context of the project described below. They will manage the collection and collation large sets of leaf material from project partners, perform high throughput DNA extractions and subsequent QC steps, generate Illumina-based libraries for next-generation sequencing, and manage the sequencing of these libraries by external sequencing providers. They will subsequently be responsible for bioinformatics-based analysis of the resulting data on a linux-based high performance computer cluster, with a specific focus on capturing short-read single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) haplotype information.
