The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Barcelona (Spain), Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton near Cambridge (UK), Rome (Italy).
EMBL is looking for a Research Technician to join the group of Dr. Detlev Arendt in the Developmental Biology Unit at EMBL Heidelberg, Germany. The successful candidate will be in charge of general lab management, organization and purchase for the laboratory. He/she will also work on specific research projects, alone or in collaboration with other lab members.
The ideal applicant should hold an appropriate degree from a university or technical school training in molecular or cell biology.
Experience in molecular biology is essential for this position.
The ideal candidate should have a special interest in molecular biology, sponge and annelid biology and laboratory work, is able to plan strategically, possesses a special attention for details, is very well organized and can manage time effectively.
Intuitiveness, the ability to take responsibility and working independently as well as part of a team are required. Motivation to work in a multidisciplinary and international environment is fundamental to this position.
Fluency in English is expected.
