We believe that people sit at the heart of achieving our mission and are excited to offer a position for a Lecturer in Operations Management to support a thriving subject group within the Hertfordshire Business School.
The successful applicant will contribute to the teaching and module leadership in the Business Analytics and Systems Group on the undergraduate, postgraduate and executive programmes offered by the School. You will be expected to engage in scholarly and research activity in the field of Operations Management, which includes undertaking supervision of student projects, dissertations and theses.
In addition, you will participate, as appropriate, in the School’s external interface with businesses and the community, engage with the School’s business development activities and maintain and develop links with relevant professional bodies and academic groupings.
Finally, you will contribute, as appropriate, to administration and programme development and support the overseas activities of the School.
You will have a proven track record of excellence in Higher Education learning and teaching, and clearly evidence experience of and enthusiasm for teaching or training. You will have expert knowledge with regards to the Operations Management subject area. Proficiency in English language, excellent organisation and planning skills and the ability to work your own initiative and as part of a team are essential. You will have the ability to communicate effectively, clearly and supportively with both students and academic colleagues. The ability to deal with conflicting demands and priorities and high level of attention to detail will be evident from your application.
You will show willingness to be involved in module management or other related duties. Being a member of, or able to demonstrate willingness to become, a member of relevant professional bodies and academic groupings is required. You will have good interpersonal skills and the ability to create excellent working relationships, with flexibility and adaptability to workload and team requirements. You’ll be capable of bringing out the best in people and of building effective relationships based on empathy, mutual respect and trust. You’ll be committed to championing social justice so that all learners participate and achieve, and be outward facing and responsive to local, regional and national communities.
You will have both an Honours degree in a relevant subject, alongside a Masters or equivalent Level 7 qualification (or higher) in a relevant subject.
